As part of its navigation system to advance school-based mentoring nationally, MentorMap sponsors annual School-Based Mentoring Training Institutes for professionals in the field. The comprehensive three-day National School-Based Mentoring Training Institutes are held at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, Mo.
Developed in response to requests from National School-Based Mentoring Conference participants, Training Institute courses go far beyond the basics to provide program managers, educators and community supporters the expertise they need to create and sustain school-based mentoring programs that positively impact lives and change communities.
Course work is based on the Elements of Effective Practice™ and the MentorMap school-based operating system powered by YouthFriends, the national leader in the field.
A small-group course format fosters learning through a variety of presentation techniques and participant dialogue.
Presenters include YouthFriends staff members and consultants, as well as school district coordinators and superintendents who share experience and advice from the field. The Institutes also feature national education and youth development experts.
